In July 2007, shortly after Gold Star Dads of America was started I decided we needed to do something special for the Gold Star Fathers. At the time I thought a well designed medallion medal would work nicely. As the database for the Gold Star Dads of America organization began to grow and our company mission matured it became obvious that something nicer would be needed. We started asking ourselves "How would we like our son remembered in a tribute piece." and "How as an organization, in addition to our main mission, could we best honor the families of our Fallen Heroes?"

Because we wanted these to be something the Families would want to show off, not just any plaque would do, so with the help of the designers at First Source Awards a very nice solid Jade Glass plaque was created. The plaque below has my son's name, the picture does not do the tribute justice. Since it is concave in design the light reflects and it is very hard to get a good picture. Trust me, they are very nice.

These beautiful, 8" x 6" crescent shaped, solid Jade Glass plaques will be personalized with your heroes Full Name & Rank. It is our hope that these Tributes will commemorate the fallen warriors service and honor his families sacrifice and that all who view them will take a few moments to reflect on their bravery and dedication.

NOTE: It was originally our goal to present these tribute plaques to each and every Father that has lost a son or daughter while fighting the Global War on Terror. Sadly the economies situation has negatively impacted donations. We have decided that diverting the necessary funds to underwrite the American Hero Tribute plaques would be fiscally irresponsible in light of our most important mission; The Wheels For Heroes ™ Project.

We would still like to offer these beautiful, customized tributes to anyone desiring to honor a Gold Star Family Member or friend by honoring their Special Hero.
